Roots are Putting down their Roots

Roots Larder is changing

As you know, Roots began as a predominantly mobile shop service, attending markets and pop-ups in the Stafford and surrounding areas.

We had a fantastic response and awareness of our services and plastic free products continue to grow day-by-day.

Some events were successful, some not so much, that is the nature of mobile shops.

We listened to our customers and changed venues and began carrying more stock to accommodate the needs of regular shoppers. Not only did this mean more tables at events, but it also meant we were fast running out of room in our van. (Reggie Roots)

We evaluated where we were going and where we wanted Roots to go; we wanted to carry more stock and offer a wider range of goods that fit our ethics of Fair Trade and Locally made products from Local producers, and of course be plastic free.

Carrying this service out in a van that we were fast outgrowing meant that the idea of driving to different events and simply serving from the rear of the van was becoming less and less do-able. Also, it got very confusing about where to find us!!! We heard you 😊

Mixed with my own health issues, (I am currently suffering from hideous sciatica as a result of 2 prolapsed discs) I was finding it harder and harder to set up events and pack them away at the end of the day at different locations, my energy was waning and I feared I would have to close Roots altogether.

So things began to evolve and organically grow……my health encouraged me to look for a solution.

We already offer Click and Collect services at amazingly supportive local businesses in Stafford, Eccelshall, Stone and Uttoxeter, this will continue, but what about the rest of Roots???

This is where small businesses collaborate to bring a mixed cohesive service.

As of Saturday 6th April, we will be permanently housed inside Tranquillity – a natural health retailer based in Stafford.

Available with zero once-use plastic and no chemical nasties will be:

  • A wide range of Non / Organic wholefood goods, purchase as much or as little as you like and bring your own containers too.
  • Fantastic selection of household cleaning products that are 100 natural and at least 50 % Organic, suitable for septic tanks and natural soak away’s
  • Beautiful variety of Fair Trade Silver Jewellery
  • Locally handmade stained/fused glass items.
  • Locally made doggie accessories, plus much more

Three days a week you can pop down and purchase all your plastic free loose wholefoods, toiletries and refill products. With free parking, public transport connections and close to the town centre, it’s the perfect venue to shop ethically, locally and even squeeze in some pampering too; there is an onsite beauty room!

Justine at Tranquilly has been tremendously supportive from day one, we held our very first pop-up shop a Tranquilly and some customers presumed it was the full-time home for Roots from the beginning… So from April, it will be 😊

We are excited to start this new chapter and looking forward to seeing what the future holds for us all.
